WINTER TESTING

The 2026 “Off-Season Training Program” is progressing nicely. Attitudes are good, intensity is high, and all of the players are showing some tremendous improvements along the way. As we steamroll our way towards spring break, several things are happening.

First, we have been conducting some Max out procedures. Testing in the weight room if you will. The numbers are improving so much for these young players. We’re proud of the way things have gone so far.(there will be some information posted on the website very soon. There are several video clips of different players performing in the weight room already on the website.)

The players will also begin a “Speed-Training” element in March.  All players (that are not currently involved in another sport at South Laurel High) will be involved.  Speed training takes place 3 days a week within the Cardinals Track Team Practice.  Coach Mike Lovitt (TE/Strength & Conditioning) will be working all of the “skill” position players, and Coach Nick Herrmann (Offensive Line/Running Game Coordinator) will be working with the “Linemen.” Other football coaches will be involved to monitor and help with drills.

Spring practice is the next big hurdle. It will get underway right after spring break. Check the webpage for dates and times. All of our practices are open to our fans, however, we would ask that you contact the football office, or Coach Irwin‘s office, to let us know who will be attending.

The 2026 football season is rapidly approaching. Make your plans now. It’s gonna be an exciting time! Get your tickets early. We’ll sell you the whole seat, but you’ll only need the edge…
