Well Cardinals. The regular season has concluded. It’s time for the playoffs…..

The Legendary Coach Vince Lombardi used to talk about “The BigPush.”  It was a time late in the season, when the regular season was wrapping up, and the playoff “push” was about to begin. 

An open week during your football season, just means it’s a Friday night, where we do not have a game to play.

Traveling down to Harlan County and playing the “Black Bears” is a tough trip. We’re awful proud of our young team for the big win this past Friday.

With all due respect to the late Kris Kristofferson, (R.I.P.) one of the great lessons a young team can learn is how to come down off their high horse after winning a big game.

Learning to rebound from an ugly loss is one of the hardest lessons a football team has to learn.

As a college player (at Georgetown) I had a It’s always good to win the Homecoming game. There are lots of fans that come to that game that haven’t been to a game all season, and of course, several former players and graduates all come back to see the team play...

As a college player (at Georgetown) I had a great coach named Kevin Donnelly. (He’s still coaching  by the way at St. Francis University in Indiana. He’s the all-time winningest coach in NAIA football.).  One of the many lessons he taught me was ….

There is a term in football called “Winning Ugly.”  It just means that sometimes you play a game where you really don’t play very well.

After the first week of the season, half the teams in the state are 0-1, and the other half are 1-0.

Well Cardinal fans, it’s for real now. 

TRAINING CAMP. All over the football world, high schools, colleges, and the NFL, players are reporting back to training camp at this time of year. 

DEAD PERIOD. This is the time when everybody goes away from football.
