Week 2 - Clay County “Tigers” Kinetic Bowl

The 1 and O South Laurel ”Cardinals” will take on the 0 and 1 Clay County ”Tigers” this Friday night at Gilliam Stadium. This Friday is a very special night at South Laurel for two different occasions. First, it’s the “Kinetic Bowl”

The traditional doubleheader will take place at Gilliam Stadium beginning at 5:30. The first game features the East Ridge ”Raiders, coached by Donnie Burdine, as Coach Burdine makes his return to the South Laurel community. Coach Burdine was head coach at South Laurel from 2015-2020. (6 Seasons). Burdine’s record as the Cardinals head coach was 19 wins, and 44 losses, over the six years that he was the head coach here. Coach Burdine‘s “Raiders “will take on the Somerset “Briar Jumpers” in the opening game. 

And after the first game, your South Laurel “Cardinals” will take the field for the second time this season, and the first time at home. The opponent is the “Tigers” of Clay County High.. Also on Friday night, right before kickoff of the Cardinals game, we will recognize all of the senior football players on the Cardinals team. Come on out to Gilliam Stadium and enjoy the atmosphere, as we honor our seniors, and try to get win number two.
