Week 4 - Whitley County Colonels

There’s something really special about starting the season 3 - 0. With each win, comes more and more confidence for the team. They begin to realize that they can play with the better teams in the mountains. It also is reinforcement, that the things we are trying to do, are being realized week by week.

The Colonels of Whitley County come to Gilliam Stadium Friday night. It’s been a long time since South Laurel has come out on top with Whitley County. The opportunity for a fourth win a row doesn’t come along all the time.

But there’s more to it than that. This is an opportunity for our team to realize just how hard it is to be a winner. The work ethic, the desire, the belief in the future, are all things that we must learn to capitalize on. To be a steady, constant winner in football games, it takes an unusual spirit. It’s not natural to want to achieve greatly. It’s natural to want to just get by. But that’s not what Cardinals football will be about.

Friday night, under the lights, at Gilliam Stadium. Let’s take this journey again. Let’s take on this one more special opportunity to go out and play this great game of football and just see what all can be accomplished.  Kickoff is 7:30.  Come on out!!!
