Week 10 – North Laurel “Jaguars”

Rivalries….Alabama vs. Auburn….. Ohio State vs. Michigan….. Florida vs. Florida State….. Kentucky vs Louisville…..Tennessee vs Vanderbilt….Notre Dame vs. Southern California….Texas vs. Oklahoma…. All of these are rivalry games….. All of them bring out the best of what the game of football is all about.

It’s the same on the local level also.  Whether you are playing for a home playoff game (and we are), whether or not you are playing for a higher RPI ranking (and we are), whether or not you are playing for local bragging rights (and we are), rival games stir up the emotion.  Because none of that matters…. None of it…. If both teams were winless, this game would still have all of the attention.  Some coaches will tell that you can go winless on the season, win only the “rival” game and it’s a successful season.  Also, they will tell you that you can win ‘em all, and lose to the cross town rival, and the season is a bust.

Well it’s time.  The Rival Game is here.  South Laurel plays at North Laurel this Friday night.. It’s the last regular season game for the 8-1 Cards.  A playoff berth is secured, but where and against who is yet to be decided.  But, all of that aside, this is the Game Of The Year.  It will always be.

Make plans to be on hand Friday, at the “Jungle,” to cheer on your South Laurel “Cardinals,” in the annual County War.  Kickoff is 7:30, and wear your Red…..Proudly!!!!!.
