PRE-SEASON

When you buy a car, you always go test drive it first. The training camp phase of football is now complete. We are heading into the “Pre-Season.”

On August 8, #Team56 will travel to Middlesboro High School for a glorified ”practice,” against the Yellow Jackets.  It is billed as our first scrimmage. It will be a very controlled situation, with a lot of different drills pitting our team against their team. The highlight will obviously be 11 or 11,  offense versus defense.  It’s our first “test drive.” This will be more of a practice than a game. However, all drills will be live, and there will be full speed, blocking and tackling. It will give us a very good opportunity to evaluate many players that are fighting for spots on the depth chart, kind of an, end-of-the-course test to close out training camp.

 The following week, (August 15) we will be at Gilliam Stadium, to take on the Danville Admirals in the annual, “Meet The Cards Night” clash. This will be a true pre-season game. All the excitement of meeting all the Cardinals fall sports teams, plus the added thrills of seeing your Cardinals play a real football game against the storied Danville Admirals. Both of these nights are big opportunities for our team to see just how far we have come in the training camp practices. It also gives us some great insight as we look forward to kicking off the season on August 23 at Somerset…..
